If you’re tapped into the outdoor gear market, you’ve probably heard of, or tried, a merino wool garment. It’s the perfect combo of old-school and cutting edge. It insulates when wet, naturally resists odors, and will last you season after season. That’s why it’s perfect as a base layer for skiing, snowboarding, hiking, or any outdoor activity. We’re true believers in the material’s potential, but we thought it could be pushed further to look better and perform as a standout piece in your closet. 

For our first collections, we sourced a mini French-terry merino fabric in three timeless colors: Black, Moonstone, and Dark Olive. But aside from these classic colors, the fabric’s softness and feel stood out to us the most. Many of us still think of wool as itchy, especially around the neck. But this particular merino feels softer than many of our 100% cotton tees. The french-terry backing is a perfect midweight layer that wicks super well and keeps you dry, during workouts in the gym, logging some time on your favorite trails, or just for a cozy layer for your morning coffee runs. 

Next: The Fit. This is everything to us, and what separates these No Signal pieces from others in the market. We went through seven different fit prototypes to get the perfect boxy, but not too baggy fit for our Cahuenga Short Sleeve. Named after one of our favorite peaks in Los Angeles, and inspired more by our favorite fashion tees than any outdoor brand, we wanted our short sleeve tees to be perfectly cropped, with a drop-shoulder fit and a split hem for extra mobility when you move. We’re super proud of where we ended up, with a tee that’s a serious contender for your go-to, and can perform just as well on the bike or trail, as it does at the office. 

Our long sleeve version, The Nichols, is named after one of our favorite canyons in LA. Made from the same midweight french-terry merino, this silhouette was inspired by our favorite vintage 90s crewneck sweatshirts. With vintage neck details, drop-shoulder fit and a split hem, these are impressively warm for their weight, and are about as light as a long-sleeve t-shirt but insulate more like a sweater. Perfect for cool morning walks, long days in the mountains, or after cool-water surf sessions.
